(Ref: Biffo2full)

Artist: Beano comic

Medium: Numbered Limited edition Print (Screenprint)

Size: 29" x 22" (74cm x 56cm)

Signature: Signed by Artist

Description: Biffo the Bear is a delight to screenprint. The bold features and clean outlines of the drawings and the bright colours of the front pages make him a very good subject for the medium.

Biffo was on the front cover of The Beano starting from 1948 and he lasted there until 1974, when Dennis the Menace took over. Biffo was originally drawn by Dudley D Watkins and David Sutherland took over in 1969.

I love the idea of taking an image from the Beano narrative and presenting it out of context. Chosen carefully the picture becomes an absurd snap-shot in time.

The story tells you how Biffo came to be chasing a bath down a hill. Without the story, you've no idea. I've chosen to use just the black and red from the original image. Signed by the printmaker John Patrick Reynolds from an edition of just 10.

Our Price: £215.00 ($344.00) (€279,50)

Size: 15" x 22" (38cm x 56cm)

Signature: Signed by Artist

Description: This is the title piece from the first Billy Whizz strip in 1964. The style reminds me of the kind of advertisement you used to get painted on the side of buildings. I love the bold red horizontal bars. Taken from the Beano May 16th 1964. Signed by the printmaker John Patrick Reynolds from an edition of 20 printed on linen.

Our Price: £245.00 ($392.00) (€318,50)

Dennis the Menace "The Catapult" (Signed) (Limited Edition)Dennis the Menace "The Catapult" (Signed) (Limited Edition)
(Ref: Dennis2full)

Artist: Beano comic

Medium: Numbered Limited edition Print (Screenprint) on Cartridge Paper

Size: 25" x 18" (64cm x 46cm)

Signature: Signed by Artist

Description: The catapult is Dennis's signature weapon, his preferred instrument of menace. It is to Dennis what the slingshot is to David. He can seem incomplete without it. This image, taken from the Beano 1961, shows Dennis in his devilish period, with a wicked smile on his face. I also love the hair from this period: an explosion of black that seems to symbolise the dark chaos Dennis delights in. Screenprint on cartridge paper. Signed by the printmaker John Patrick Reynolds from an edition of 20.

Our Price: £155.00 ($248.00) (€201,50)

Our Price: £265.00 ($424.00) (€344,50)

Beano Front page "I'm Bored" (Signed) (Limited Edition)Beano Front page "I'm Bored" (Signed) (Limited Edition)
(Ref: Dennis36full)

Artist: Beano comic

Medium: Numbered Limited edition Print (Screenprint) on Paper

Size: 25" x 40" (64cm x 100cm)

Signature: Signed by Artist

Description: Dennis tracks down the smell of homemade toffee to his granny's house. The ever-faithful and anthropomorphic Gnasher shares Dennis's boredom, and then, a few panels later, the toffee. To make the print, I borrowed the original colour separations from Beano publisher D.C. Thomson & Co., Ltd. and used them to make a print nine times the size of the original.

The result is a vibrant print showing all the detailed stippling used by DCT to create half-tone and shade effects. I've printed two versions, one on paper and one on canvas. Screenprint on paper. Signed and numbered by the print maker from an edition of just 10 copies.

Our Price: £265.00 ($424.00) (€344,50)

Dennis the Menace "Arms Akimbo" (Signed) (Limited Edition)Dennis the Menace "Arms Akimbo" (Signed) (Limited Edition)

Artist: Beano comic

Medium: Numbered Limited edition Print (Screenprint) on Hand-made Paper

Size: 28" x 39" (71cm x 99cm)

Signature: Signed by Artist

Description: This was originally used as a back page title piece. It shows Dennis at his most menacing. The perfect scowl. I've printed this image using the original colour separations used by D.C. Thomson, which they lent to me for the purpose. Taken from the Beano 3rd October 1959. Screenprint on handmade paper. Signed by the printmaker John Patrick Reynolds from an edition of 20.

Our Price: £265.00 ($424.00) (€344,50)

Gnasher Gno Cats (Signed) (Limited Edition)Gnasher Gno Cats (Signed) (Limited Edition)
(Ref: Gnasher4full)

Artist: Beano comic

Medium: Numbered Limited edition Print (Screenprint) on Cotton Paper

Size: 22" x 30" (56cm x 76cm)

Signature: Signed by Artist

Description: Gnasher - a wire-haired Abyssinian tripe hound - entered the scene on 31 August 1968. It is as if he is made of the same stuff as Dennis's hair. And just as Dennis's hair symbolises the boy's wildness, so Gnasher is wild. His anthropomorphism is endearing, though.

The Beano 1984 Gnasher and Gnipper take it easy. Note the anthropomorphised attitudes - crossed legs and heads on hands. A numbered edition of 20 signed by the print maker John Patrick Reynolds. Screenprint on cotton paper.

Our Price: £155.00 ($248.00) (€201,50)

Minnie the Minx "Pocket Money" (Signed) (Limited Edition)Minnie the Minx "Pocket Money" (Signed) (Limited Edition)
(Ref: Minnie2full)

Artist: Beano comic

Medium: Numbered Limited edition Print (Screenprint) on Paper

Size: 14" x 11" (36cm x 28cm)

Signature: Signed by Artist

Description: Minnie the Minx is a counterpart to Dennis the Menace (alongside Beryl the Peril), and sports the same horizontal black and red stripey jumper to prove it. She is described as having the 'ferocity and strength of an Amazon warrior'.

Minnie has been appearing in the Beano since the issue dated 19 December, 1953. She was created by artist Leo Baxendale who was also responsible for the Bash Street Kids. Jim Petrie took over in June 1961 and carried on for 40 years. This is another annual title piece, taken from the Beano 1975.

This time it shows Minnie at her glummest. Unusually for my prints, the wording dominates. Screenprint on paper. Signed by the printmaker John Patrick Reynolds from an edition of just 20.

Our Price: £115.00 ($184.00) (€149,50)

This image is taken from the title piece of a story in the 1971 annual. It's a picture of in-your-face defiance, belligerence and tomboyishness. Screenprint on paper. Signed by the printmaker John Patrick Reynolds from an edition of just 25.

EveryBody Knows The Beano 1975 This is a well balanced panel, with the pavement at the bottom and the speech bubble at the top. It also has a beautiful background half-tone, which takes on a sort of bendy dot look in the scale of a screenprint. The complaint is also one many of us could sympathise with. An numbered edition of 25 signed by the print maker John Patrick Reynolds. Screenprint on paper.
