The Truth about Wilson 1943 (Signed) (Limited Edition)The Truth about Wilson 1943 (Signed) (Limited Edition)
(Ref: Wilson5full)

Wizard Comic. William Wilson first appeared on July 24, 1943, in the adventure comic The Wizard (1922-63) and versions lived on in other comics such as Spike in the 1980s (where he was known as The Man in Wilson was born in 1795, and lived on a northern moor where he met a hermit who gave him the secret of long life, which seems to involve a potion made from herbs. This also gives him great athletic strength and capabilities.

Wilson's characteristic running outfit was an all-over body suit which must have looked very strange during the years his stories were published, but which seems much less anomalous now that Nike is making a similar one. Wilson always ran barefooted; this doesn't seem to have caught on in the same way. This is the image which accompanied the first Wilson story, on July 24, 1943, in the Wizard. Screenprint on cotton paper. Signed and numbered from an edition of 20 by the printmaker. 22" x 15" (56cm x 38cm)
